Changes coming to St. Clare Parish

04-17-2022Weekly ReflectionFr. Hans Ruygt

This has been a wonderful year as many more parishioners were able to return to the church for Mass. I was very glad to see more faces and catch up with their stories. We still have a weekly live stream Mass for those who need it, but we hope we will see you soon inside the church if you are healthy. We started construction on our Parish Activities Center to include offices, social hall, chapel, meeting rooms etc. We really appreciate our donors and hope you are one of them! I recently announced some priests and staff changes.

Here is a brief summary:

Leaving

Fr. Hans will retire on June 30 after 20 years as our pastor and 37 years as a priest. He will continue to live in Surprise and hopes that his health will allow him to help in various parishes from time to time.

Fr. Nick will move to his new parish on July 1, St. Andrew's in Chandler.

Fr. Jacob will remain until July 31st, then move to his new parish (location to be announced later.).

Mr. Brian Guillot, Director of Religious Education will retire June 10. He has reached "the age." We wish him many blessings in retirement.

Mrs. Nicole 'Nikki" Cheshire, music director for Sunday 5:00pm and vocalist at other Masses with Bernadette Linde. Nikki was recently hired full-time by Prince of Peace Parish in Sun City West. We miss her and wish her well, but we thank Roger Selway who has stepped in to keep the music flowing.

Arriving August 1st

Fr. McGuire will become the new pastor August 1, after serving for 18 years as pastor of St Daniel in Scottsdale.

Fr. Menegay will begin his assignment here as parochial vicar.

Transitions are emotional and take lots of prayer. God will provide for us and bring St Clare Parish new opportunities and blessings through our new priests. We hold all the above people in our prayers.
